Mismanagement of the ICC Twenty 20 World Cup, Resignation of two major ICC officials

Chris Tetley Chief Operating Officer, GM Marketing and Communications, Claire Furlong resigns ahead of ICC annual meeting in Colombo, 19 July: press report

Two senior ICC officials have resigned over mismanagement of T20 2020. Events manager Chris Tetley and marketing and communications GM Claire Furlong have resigned, according to International Press. Many board members complained that the World Cup in America and the West Indies was uninteresting.

According to media reports, the world football body has not yet announced the resignations; ICC chief Pankaj Khamji, on the other hand, called for an investigation into the excessive budget for the T20 World Cup. Two ICC officials resigned following the request for an investigation and deputy director Pankaj Khamji wrote a letter to review and conduct the investigation. Now that layoffs are coming, the budget can be monitored.

The money flowed like water in the T20 World Cup, money went up and money went down. America was the host but look, there was no American cricket manager who was responsible for all these problems. ICC officials did the same, American officials were also selected by the ICC, CEO Brett Jones was close to Chris Tetley. The two leaders resigned ahead of the ICC’s annual conference which will start in Colombo on July 19.
